At True-Precision, we offer a wide range of waterproof scales. Waterproof and dustproof scales are categorised according to their IP rating (Ingress Protection). The IP classification consists of two digits: the first digit indicates the level of protection against solid objects like dust and grit, while the second digit indicates the level of protection against liquids (water).
The higher the IP rating, the better the scale withstands dirt, dust, and water. For example:
- IP65 is dust-tight and designed for occasional contact with liquids – suitable for cleaning with a damp cloth.
- IP66 is dust-tight and intended for use in temporarily wet environments – brief submersion in water is possible.
- IP68 is dust-tight and designed for repeated use in wet environments – full submersion in water is allowed.

We particularly recommend choosing an IP-rated scale for kitchen environments – especially bakeries – where cleaning and brushing away dust is essential. A scale that isn't resistant to dust (such as flour) may quickly lose its accuracy when used in dusty environments.
