The OIML class indicates the maximum permissible weight deviation for the weight. A weight in the OIML M1 class has a maximum deviation of ±0.005%. When calibrating a scale, it is essential that the weight does not deviate more than the precision of the scale allows. The higher the precision of the scale, the lower the permissible deviation must be. The required calibration class is usually specified in the scale's user manual.
